|What will this resource help with?||Comply with the adidas Group’s Workplace Standards, support the adidas Group’s policies and strategies for environmental sustainability along the supply chain. Minimum requirements only.|
In order to promote uniform standards in environmental management, the adidas Group has developed tools to measure and assess the environmental performance and risks at factories the Group works with. These guidelines are based on international industry practice and standards for environmental management and sustainable resource consumption.
The guidelines detail requirements which will allow suppliers to comply with the adidas Group’s Workplace Standards and also support the adidas Group’s ongoing development of policies and strategies to address environmental sustainability along the supply chain. The guidelines do not necessarily reflect the national laws of all the countries where suppliers are based, and it is the responsibility of the individual suppliers to ensure that they meet all legal requirements and obtain the necessary approvals, permissions and consents related to the environmental impact of their operations.
The guidelines represent minimum requirements only. They are not industry specific and in some cases suppliers may be required to achieve higher standards depending on the nature of the industrial processes or manufacturing activities undertaken on site.
The structure of the documents is outlined as follows: An introduction to environmental management systems is followed by a section on sustainable resource use, complemented by guidance on emissions to water and air as well as waste and completed by a risks and hazards section.
