Navigating the Higg FEM

  • The first time you open your module, you will automatically start with the “Site Info – Permits” section. You will need to complete the “Site Info – Permits” section first before moving on to other sections of the module.
  • You can quickly and easily navigate among different sections of the module using the navigation on the left side of the page. Click on a section to jump to that part of the module.
  • You can see your overall progress in completing your module at the top left of the screen (the sections will turn blue once completed).

Completing Level 1 Questions First

  • In the new Higg FEM, you must meet Level 1 practices before moving on to Level 2 or Level 3. You will not be able to view or answer Level 2 or Level 3 questions unless you have implemented practices from Level 1 questions. This ensures basic practices are well-established before moving on to more advanced practices.
  • Once you complete all the Level 1 questions, slide the “Finalize Level” slider to the right with your cursor to lock your Level 1 question responses.
  • If you have met all Level 1 practices, then Level 2 and Level 3 questions will appear once you finalize Level 1.
  • If you have not met all Level 1 practices, then you will end at Level 1 for that section of the module and can proceed to the next impact area section.

Auto-calculations and Data Normalization Will Be Available in January 2018

Starting January 2018 Higg FEM will show automatic calculations in the Energy, Water Use, and Waste sections for Level 2 and Level 3 questions referring to:

  • Baselines
  • Targets
  • Reductions

Note: to avoid confusion answering these types of questions, please wait until January 2018 to start completing any questions in the sections outlined above.

Guidance and Support

  • Every question in the module will have a hint right below the primary question to help you better understand how to answer the question.
  • If you are looking for additional guidance on a question, you can click the “?” symbol next to the question. This will take you to the Higg FEM How to Higg Guide.
    • The Higg FEM How to Higg Guide provides guidance for every question in the Higg FEM. For every question, the guide will explain:
      • The intent of the question
      • Any technical guidance for that question
      • How the question will be verified
  • If you have a question on the Higg FEM that is not answered in the How to Higg guide, you can contact our technical support team by visiting HowtoHigg.org, clicking “Submit a Request” at the top of the page, and submitting a “Completing My Module” support request.
